On 19th May 2010, Muriel Colinét of the Belgian CHAC association organized a forum in Liege to celebrate World Hepatitis Day 2010. The meeting was attended by patients, doctors, nurses and speakers from various political parties. The forum was dedicated to Muriel's late husband Daniel Gansberghe, who sadly passed away in November last year.
The outcome of the debates was very positive: Patients asked many questions, and nurses highlighted that there was a lack of information in hospitals and schools. Speakers were able to convince politicians who were there that it was high time to do something about prevention and access to treatment for all and without any restriction in Belgium. World Hepatitis Day in Belgium was very successful and reached a lot of media coverage.
