2011-03-28 07:52
Within the General Project “Dissemination and Information on hepatitis B i C for the prevention and early diagnosis”, an informative event was held on January 25, 2011 in Fedefarma facilities, located in Gavà (Barcelona). The title was The role of pharmacists in chronic hepatitis. What should they know?
We thank Fedefarma and especially Mrs. Florentina Botet their attention and the wonderful organization of the event.
The pharmacist is one of the health professionals that the patient, who takes hepatitis treatment, is closer to and deserves all their trust and confidence. We believe that the support of these professionals is vital to patient; the treatment has many side effects which can be eased with the help of pharmacists, advising a number of products and medication and providing support and practical advice to patients who in many cases follow the treatments for up to 72 weeks. The work of the pharmacist is also important in the prevention of the infection and the diagnosis of patients who are unaware they have hepatitis. In all these aspects and the prevalence of hepatitis B and C and natural history, Dr. Teresa Casanovas spoke at the meeting, which was attended by 93 pharmacists who also received ASSCAT’s informative material.
Fedefarma has distributed 50,000 informative leaflets from ASSCAT to 2.000 pharmacies across Catalonia.
